Das Debüt "For Aeons Past" von Solution.45 hat es mir nicht gerade leicht gemacht.
Zum einen muss man den modernen Melo-Death Metal der Jungs mögen und zum anderen, und das ist viel wichtiger, stört mich bei etlichen Songs das Gegrowle von Sänger Christian Älvestam gewaltig. Mit seinem überragenden Clean Gesang begeistert mich der Mann sofort nur werden die einzelnen Tracks durch das dauernde Gegrowle einfach zerschossen. Dieses Stilmittel hätten man wesentlich sporadischer einsetzen sollen.
Kommen wir zur Musik. Wie bereits erwähnt zelebrieren die fünf Schweden modernen und melodischen Death Metal mit Wechsel zwischen Growls und Clean-Gesang. Das Riffing ist entsprechend der Ausrichtung fett und bratend und die Rhytmusabteilung liefert ein groovendes Fundament auf dem die Songs stehen.
Beim hören der Scheibe sind mir zum Vergleich immer wieder drei Bands durch den Kopf geschossen die unter Garantie Pate für das Album standen.
Der Opener "The Close Beyond" erinnert mich stark an Soilwork, bei "Bladed Vaults" schimmert immer wieder Mercenary durch und das Riffing von "Trough Night - Kingdomed Gates" könnte auch von Evergrey stammen.
Als Anspeiltips kann ich das grandiose "Wirethrone" und die gigantische Ballade!! "Lethean Tears" empfehlen.
Grundlegend ein solides Debüt der Schweden dass nur durch den zu häufigen Einsatz der Growls und durch den viel zu langen Abschlusstrack "Clandestinity Now" nicht in höhere Punktregionen vordringen kann.
Fans der Richtung und Bands wie Scar Symmetry oder eben Soilwork sollten aber auf jeden Fall mal ein Ohr riskieren.

THE CLOSE BEYOND
Wow, what can I say.. Great song to open  up this album! Still can't get over how that 8-string part catches you  off guard! Sounds like a rusty hook from below impaling you and dragging you down to hell or something! Me likes!

GRAVITATIONAL LENSING
By now, this track should be one of the more  known tracks since it's been on Metal Injection, but also Myspace and  Youtube, etc for a while. And with good reason! I think it's worth the  extra attention! Great song!

THROUGH NIGHT-KINGDOMED  GATES
Maybe my personal favorite. Christian's vocal  arrangements on the verse parts were a nice surprise to me since I  always assumed it would be a growling part. The outro vocal parts are  awesome too! Also watch out for some axe trading from me and Jani!!

FOR AEONS PAST
Similarly surprised, this time I pictured a  melodic verse instead of the growling vocals, but damn, kicks maximum  ass just as it is! Christian is full of surprises! But after a few  listenings, I can see why
this is the title track!

LETHEAN TEARS
Ladies, we're coming for YOU!!

BLADED VAULTS
This track brings alot of fond memories. I've  played some of the pre-production versions of this one on different  clinics and guitar fares! One time in Oulu, Finland, I had a clinic-duet with Wintersun drummer Kai Hahto and we played this track together! He  actually learned the song in a real short notice and we jammed through  with no problem! Great guy. This one has some Chopin-influenced guitar  soloing! Hope this track will bring fond memories to you too, in time!  Enjoy…

WIRETHRONE
Brutality and  passion captured in a sonical entity! This has my favourate chorus at  the moment. Soaring melody with brutal vocals! Kind of like the beauty  and the beast, except we ain't no beauties (but ladies, we can be your  beasts!).. Very soulful song!

ON EMBERED FIELDS ADUST
Like Blade Vaults, I've played this one on clinics and with Mr. Hahto too.  Some psychedelic solos coming your way!

INTO SHADOW
I think this is the most soulful song on the album (well, in my opinion  of course…)!

CLANDESTINITY NOW
Long  song, so short description: EPIC! Three songs in one.
