Band: Joe Lynn Turner Album: Live In Germany Playing Time: 73:01 min Record Company/Distribution: Frontiers Records/Soulfood Homepage: www.joelynnturner.com oder www.myspace.com/joelynnturner Score: 9,5 from 10 Meanwhile good old JOE LYNN TURNER is over 30 years in the musicbiz, let his vocal cords tremble on countless albums (RAINBOW, DEEP PURPLE, MOTHERS ARMY, BRAZEN ABBOT, and others) and only one Livealbum has been published, and that only together with GLENN HUGHES at a show with the HUGHES TURNER PROJECT in Tokio 2002. When he entered the stage last year at the United Forces Of Rock Festival in Ludwigsburg, they tape-recorded the show. And the result is gigantic. Already at the first notes of „Death Alley Driver“ or rather at the following „I Surrender“ you realize immediately that the guys (Karl Cochran, Git., Greg Smith, bass, Michael Sorrentino, dr. und Carmine Giglio, keys.) cathed fire today. Certainly they concentrated on Rainbow Classics. Personally I would have preferred one or two more JLT songs, but that doesn't matter at all. Because „Can't Let You Go“ for example is one of the most genius rockballads of all time and JOE prooves live his exceptional case of his talent. Everything's perfect: the joy of playing, the timing, the setlist. Who won't get a gooseflesh while listening to „Stone Cold“ on this album, has definetely missed the last 30 years of rock history. All in all you can listen to 13 songs, while while only three of his solo career are included (when I counted right). But „Power Of Love“ of the „Usual Suspects“ album and „Your Love Is Life“ as well as „Blood Red Sky“ from the new „Second Hand Life“ CD join imperceptible and at the latest while listening to „Burn“ I had tears of joy in my eyes. This is exactly the reason why I love this style of music so much. Thank you Joe for great 30 years, thank you for this wonderful live album and thank you for a countless number of moments of goose-pimples. Welcome to the WIZARDS OF ROCK again!!!
