J.P: Hello Ango, thank you that you answer me a few questions about your debut album and to your new band.
For a new band, naturally comes the question of the establishment. How and when did you HOLY FORCE launched and how did you catch your bandmembers?
A.C: Hello, Julian, thank you so much for your questions. I got a chance a few years ago to work for a legendary metal vocalist named Mike Vescera. And then Mike introduced me to RHINO in 2008, so I started to talk to RHINO about my case and what I want. He is a very nice guy and he always tried cheer me up, he let me know I really can make my dream come true someday. And then I tried to contact Mike LePond in 2009, he is a super nice guy like RHINO & promised to help me, he is always so nice to me, you can‘t believe how great and nice all my members are. Finally, I got Mark Boals in Fall 2010, he is the main key of this band, he is a very unbelievbale vocalist and person, a great gentleman like Mike & RHINO, I found no words to tell you how a great person he is. I can tell you I really don‘t know how I am so lucky, because they are all my dream stars since when I was a young guy, I just have to tell you, I am really too lucky to work with them.
J.P: Rhino and Mark Boals are take part years in the metal business so how could you get they in your band?
A.C: Yes, you are right, Julian, Mark, Mike, RHINO, they are really popular and very busy on their metal music business. My only way is „be patient to wait“, if you go to a very good and popular restaurant, you have to be patient and wait.
J.P: You're no unknown person in the metal business, why did you now form an own band?
A.C: In fact I‘ve worked on this case almost 4 years or so.......I had all songs ready in 2008, but sometimes when the time is not right and coming to you, you can’t work anything out even you are in a hurry, and another thing was I didn‘t think I was good enough for this album before this year.
J.P: How the communication did works between you and the other members in case of the songwriting? The band members are not just around the corner. Probably it should have gone much over the Internet, or?
How do you find this "new" method of songwriting? Do you prefer the "old" method of songwriting and recording, or the new method over the internet?
A.C: Hmm....I wrote everything and then I made the original demos by myself, in fact I can play drums, bass, guitar, keyboard & sing, of course I can’t play as good as our members, but my skills are enough for recording a demo. I always tell them what I think and what I want on the songs before they start to work them out.
When they get my rough demos and then everybody fixes them and mixes in their ideas, but I always talk to them if I have any problems. In fact, I can’t get better ideas than our members when I am on the other instruments.
Maybe some things can work by internet, but some things maybe not, I can’t tell you everything about how I produced this album because in some cases they are my business secrets, this is my way to make money, so please do not mind about my business secrets. I don’t have any rule when I am writing the songs. I just feel free to use all my feeling to write the songs and use my ears to check them. I would try to write the new songs as I can in the future, but now this band has to pass the first stage. If this band can’t be popular or people do not like this band and the songs, I think this band will probably end.
I have to talk about one person here, that guy is the man and he did really help me a lot, that’s is Anssi Kippo, he is a very nice person and he mixed this album, by the way he is the best engineer to me.
J.P: By the way, a cool band name! How did you get the name? Has it any meaning?
A.C I thought about band name since last Summer, I met the biggest challenge in my life last year, but it is a very good quest to me, and then “Holy Force” was the last song be done in this album.
J.P: Let's get to your album “Holy Force”. The songs "Holy Force" and "Moonlight Fantasy" just stuck in my mind, they just have that certain something! Perhaps you can tell us something about the songs? Do you have favorite songs on the album?
A.C: About “Holy Force”, I just try to tell the people what happened on me and what I think about it and face the problem on “Holy Force”. About “Moonlight Fantasy”, lol, I spent 5 days to finish that song, all music and lyrics. I met a sweet lady and she works in the supermarket, and then I only can see her in the night, so I wrote this song, of course she is not my lover.
J.P: Is “Holy Force” a kind of concept album? Is there a special topic in your lyrics?
A.C: This question is a little difficult to me, when I wrote these songs I was having very hard life and bad time, so I just wrote all my personal views and my thoughts of when I met the problems in life.
J.P: How did you get the contract with you label Music buy Mail? Did you have other offers and why did you choose just Music buy Mail?
A.C: I have to tell you, my best friend Alex Yarborough (HOLY FORCE Designer) introduced me to Music Buy Mail, he talked to Music Buy Mail before I knew them. Before that, I only contacted 3 labels, they are all very good labels and bosses. I got to tell you, all people I know at Music Buy Mail, they are really amazing and so nice, they know what I need and what I want When I had a problem when I produced this album, they really helped me our a lot, I always tell the owner of Music Buy Mail „You must be a saint“. This label is the best and right label for my band, I can trust them.
J.P: What do you think the future holds for you? What's next for HOLY FORCE? Perhaps there are any tour plans?
A.C Sure, I am start to thinking about the new songs now, but I am not sure if they can be done or not in the future, but I can tell you they will be amazing and a little different than this album, the only thing I can promise now is, if I can make the next album or EP, that it will be good. About tours, we have to wait and see if the world metal fans like my style or my songs or not, now only fans can decide our future.
J.P: I hope you have planned more records? Or do you think first not so far and wait for the sales of the debut record?
A.C: I want more records, but I think maybe only 2 albums in my life, I think all my ideas will be over when I work around 40 songs.
